Temperament

The once fierce dog has retired from that lifestyle and has left in its place a well tempered yet protective dog. This courageous dog is docile, calm and affectionate towards it owners but still capable of guarding. When sufficiently socialised, it can be friendly with strangers but, when it senses trouble may be brewing, it will place itself in front of its owner to protect them. This is typical of its brave, selfless nature. The breed must be socialised and positively trained from a young age to ensure that the dog does not become too combative around other dogs as it gets older.
