Temperament
The Japanese Spitz is high-spirited, intelligent and playful. It makes a great companion for children as it will happily play all day long if allowed to. It is slightly wary of strangers upon first meeting them and will bark to alert the owner to a new person's presence. A good house dog, it also makes an excellent watchdog. Positive socialisation is ideal from an early age. Consistent and firm training is a must.
