Although they can be relatively easy to train, consistent training is essential to ensure that the dog is responsive to commands. His courage is proverbial and he has a strong inherent desire to protect. Thus he is not good with other animals, as it is hard to train out the purpose it which it was created. The American Staffordshire Terrier requires experienced handling. This breed is not suitable for everyone and is in fact now banned or restricted in some countries around the world.
