Coat

Thick and harsh, medium length on the body, short on the face and ears. A mane is formed around the neck and longer hair is found on the tail and breeches.

Markings

Fawn shades, brown shades, black, and can be brindle. White spotting can be found.

His energetic nature ensures that he is always ready to go for a walk and enjoy time outside with anyone willing to take him. This is an obedient breed whose talents excel as a watchdog, guard dog and a hunter.

Temperament

A faithful and affectionate dog to its family, the Atlas Mountain Dog can make a wonderful companion. They are always alert and their strong inherent guard instinct makes them the excellent guard dogs they are renowned as. As an active breed, they do require regular exercise, preferring to be outdoors otherwise they will become restless and potentially unhappy. They should be socialised well from a young age to stop them becoming too protective.
