Markings
Entirely mottled giving a blue slate effect. Two black patches on either side of the head covering the ears, surrounding the eyes and stopping on the cheeks. Two tan markings are placed above the eyes, as well as tan traces being found on the cheeks, lips, inner ear, on the legs and under the tail.

Around the home, the breed is a welcome addition. Lively and playful, the breed will give the family hours of fun as well as an ability to heap affection onto their owners and family.
Temperament
The Blue Gascony Basset is an affectionate breed which loves social situations; it is a breed that likes to feel part of the family and will not be happy if left on its own with no interaction. They will alert you to the presence of strangers by letting loose its beautiful howling voice. An instinctive hunter, the Blue Gascony Basset must have a well-fenced garden as they will follow a scent without thinking where they are going.
