Griffon Bruxellois: Red with black marking allowed on the head
Griffon Belge: Black or black and tan.
Petit Brabancon: Red, black or black and tan. Masks are dark, and grey or grey frosting in the masks of older dogs is permissible.
In all three breed types a few white hairs on the chest are tolerated.

The Brussels Griffon is intelligent, cheerful and full of personality. He can be wilful and kick up a fuss if he feels threatened but is charming, lively and affectionate. Very loving, he loves to be spoiled and is well-behaved with other dogs and pets.
