Temperament

Naturally suspicious of strangers and do not make immediate friendships which helps to make them good guard and watchdogs, as does their strong devotion to their owners. They are very defensive of their territory and are loyal to their family. Early, sufficient socialisation is paramount and can result in friendliness to familiar people. They are responsive to non-repetitive training and can perform well in obedience, whether it is in competitions or in everyday life situations.
