It will intervene when its family children play too roughly and will protect the youngest or weakest one. Extensive socialisation from an early age is essential to prevent it becoming too protective. It is very alert and has a well-developed, strong and inherent defensive reaction, and desire to protect its family and territory. Consistent and firm training is required.
