Chinese Shar-Pei

The Chinese Shar-Pei is a loyal companion to an individual or a family that looks for the wiggle room in the majority of orders given to it. Once a bond is formed with a family, the breed will look after them. Despite its frowning appearance, the Chinese Shar-Pei is a calm, relaxed breed of dog that loves variety in its routine, in which it will flourish and become a happy dog.

Coat
A distinctive feature of the breed : short, harsh and bristly. The coat is straight and offstanding on the body, but generally flatter on the limbs. No undercoat. The coat may vary in length from 1 cm to 2,5 cm. Never trimmed
Markings
All solid colours acceptable except white. Tail and rear part of thighs frequently of a lighter colour. Darker shading down the back and on the ears permissible.

An independent dog, with a devoted streak running through its body, the Chinese Shar-Pei makes a wonderful companion. Its loyal watchdog nature is sure to make anybody that establishes a bond with the unique looking dog feel safe. Whilst being headstrong to begin with, training the dog early from a young age to ensure you let them know who the boss is, will give you an attentive and reliable dog.

The Chinese Shar-Pei's wonderful short and rough coat is a unique feature to the breed, along with the regal wrinkle on the forehead and cheeks. The occasionally headstrong breed makes a excellent companion that will always keep you busy. They are calm, independent, loyal and affectionate to their family.
