Coat

Dense, tight ringlets with a natural oiliness, a v-shaped patch from the back of the lower jaw to the breastbone.

Puce liver. Some white can be found on the chest.

Temperament

The Irish Water Spaniel is a very intelligent breed that is eager to learn but can be wilful and requires training from an early age, which they pick up quickly due to their intelligent nature. They are quite protective and need to be well-socialised as puppies to make sure they don't become too reserved or protective of their own family. They are a gentle breed that has a fun-loving outlook on life and will be a welcome addition to any home.
