Coat
Dense, very long and exceptionally straight and standing-off. Of harsh texture with straight stiff guard hairs; must never be falling flat but be upstanding even when there is not of a lot of coat.

Self-white or red. Champagne colour accepted but not desirable.

The Italian Volpino is a very cheerful breed that loves to play with its family and be around them. They are very energetic and make great playmates for children. Wary of strangers they also make good watchdogs. They are vigilant and territorial with a distinct temperament therefore sufficient early socialisation and training is essential.
