Coat
Long, straight topcoat and a short, woollen-like undercoat; the head, ears, front and hind legs are covered in short hair, with the neck and shoulders covered in a thick mane.
Markings
Grey shaded. Dark muzzle and ears, eye rims well-defined, black tip to tail.

Keeshonds are a breed that is easy to train, so they lend themselves well to obedience trials, agility trials and performing tricks. It also means that they can be trained to be good family pets, as well as being excellent watchdogs as they are ever alert.
Temperament
The Keeshond is a breed with a vibrant personality. They are great companions to children and are happy to spend time with anyone and everyone. They make good watchdogs with their alert nature, and whilst they respond well to training, they should be trained with care. Sufficient socialisation is essential from a young age so they don't become too shy.
