The Landseer is a gentle and affectionate breed full of courage and of an intelligent nature. It is gentle with children and very sociable with all people. Discerning, the Landseer is able to determine if its family is in trouble and act accordingly, working well as a watchdog. It thrives on companionship and does not like to be left on its own. Preferring open spaces to enclosure, the Landseer also loves being in water. Training should be done from a young age to ensure compliance, it responds best to positive motivation.
