Coat

Smooth and glossy, fine but thick enough to aid protection. Some have an undercoat which is short, thick and soft.

Markings

Brindle, black, buckskin. Some have a black saddle, and white marks on chest and feet

Average, 10-12 years

They are loyal to their owners and make brilliant family dogs due to their affectionate nature which they heap on their family enthusiastically. As well as hunting, they are enthusiastic watchdogs and guard dogs, giving any family a sense of safety in the home.

Temperament

The Plott whilst being protective of its family and an excellent guard dog, is an eager-to-please breed, always looking to impress its master. They are fearless animals that will back down from no foe. Due to their eagerness to please and high intelligence, they are very easy to train.

Good to know

The Plott is a fantastic breed for hunting and protecting, as well as a breed for the family. They are always on the look out to try and please their masters. Although independent with a strong hunting instinct, they remain affectionate.
