Two varieties: Short-haired and smooth and very dense. Long-haired and wiry with a beard.

Predominantly yellow, fawn, black or white. White markings can be found, or if a white coat, markings in the other listed colours can be found.

Temperament
The Portuguese Warren Hound is a very clever and lively breed of dog, happy to play around its family. It can be friendly through extensive socialisation though most remain wary of strangers in unfamiliar situations. It can make a good guardian. Training should be consistent and sensitive to ensure compliance. It has a hunting instinct.
