It is an independent breed, yet the Shiba Inu is respected for being extremely faithful and loyal to his owner and obedient to those who have earned his respect. Good-natured, kind and naturally fastidious, this dog makes a wonderful addition to any family home.

The Shiba Inu is faithful, alert, lively, confident and courageous. Although very independent, the Shiba Inu is trainable. He is good-natured and kind, and loving and loyal to those who earn his respect. The breed's inherent reserved behaviour with strangers requires extensive early socialisation.
