Coat
The undercoat is dense but fine with a silky smooth top coat. The ears and the back of the forelegs are feathered with the tail and buttocks home to longer hair.

A trusting and smart breed, the Tibetan Spaniel makes a good guardian to its family - despite its small size. But a talented watchdog is not all this breed has to offer, with good agility and with its high intelligence the breed is able to learn tricks very quickly.
Temperament
The Tibetan Spaniel is a happy breed that is very smart and trusting. They are protective of their family, especially the children it has ties to. They are not dogs that yap but will bark at strangers. They can be wilful however, and early training should help limit this compulsion.
