Coat
The whole body is covered by a short, straight, dense, flat coat that is shiny yet coarse to the touch.
Markings
Black with tan markings on each eyebrow, on the muzzle and legs. White markings may be found on the forehead, the neck, under the chest, lower parts of the legs and on the tip of the tail.

The Transylvanian Hound is a beautiful breed which is able to withstand some of the harshest weather conditions. They have a playful attitude and are very energetic; you can be sure that if you are ready for exercise and fun they will be right beside you.
Temperament
The Transylvanian Hound is a very brave, intelligent and versatile hunting dog. They are very gentle and good-natured. Lively and determined and can make good family pets providing they have a firm training to ensure obedience. Training and socialisation should be done from puppyhood as they can be a bit wilful.

The Transylvanian Hound is a wonderful hunting breed with a strong sense of smell and good sense of direction. Originally the Transylvanian Hound was bred as a hunting dog, to hunt wolf, bear, deer, wild boar, fox and hare.
