The West Siberian Laika is a medium-sized dog of strong and clean composition and good bone structure. Built for stamina and endurance, the West Siberian Laika has tremendous speed over snow and forest, and makes an excellent all round hunting dog and a good tracker.

Coat
Guard hairs of outer coat hard with a well-developed undercoat. Topcoat is straight and coarse. On head, ears and front side of the limbs, the coat is short; on withers, neck, shoulders and rear side of the limbs, the hair is longer.

White, salt and pepper, red and grey in all shades, black colour permitted, also part colours and with patches of the same colours.

The West Siberian Laika is balanced and lively, has an even temperament and is calm and docile in the home. Self-confident and self-conscious he is a fine hunter, brave and careful and loyal towards his flock, they make good guardians. The West Siberian Laika is a social breed with its family but is reserved towards strangers. Socialisation and training is essential from an early age.
